Within planetary radar astronomy a radio signal is transmitted to a spacecraft, to a planet, and similarly police radar transmits a radio wave to a car, and then radio signal is re-transmitted (or reflected) back and received at the ground (similarly reflected back to the police radar-gun), and, it is assured in the textbooks and in scientific journal publications, that a Doppler shift occurs in the frequency and calculates the spacecraft's speed or the car's speed. ![]()
